Choice Of Computer If you are serious about running your business from home your PC (“Personal Computer”) will quickly become a critical part of your business. It will probably hold all your customer details, financial accounts and act as your gateway for receiving emails and orders via the internet. If you work for a large company then they will probably have some support staff you can call in an emergency but, unfortunately, most people working from home do not have this luxury so if your computer crashes you are left to sort out the problem yourself. Remember that in this on-line world your customers can switch to your competitors at the click of a mouse button. If you are relying on your home-based-business to pay the household bills the effects of loosing customers and the enormous overhead of redoing your years accounts from scratch can be fatal. It is therefore vital your computer is reliable.
Not only should your computer be reliable but I would in fact go so far as to say that, especially if your business is computer based (typing or graphic design work for example) you should have a second computer to hand as well in case disaster strikes.
When choosing a computer for your business I would recommend going for a well known manufacturer with good telephone support and I personally would recommend either Dell, HEWLETT-PACKARD or TOSHIBA as their reliablilty and Technical Support are excellent.

Where to Purchase your PC It is possible to purchase PCs direct from their manufacturers website (simply click on the following links to visit their websites and browse their range of PCs and peripherals: DELL, HEWLETT-PACKARD, TOSHIBA) but if you like to compare PCs from several different manufacturers then I would recommend you visit the PC World, Currys or DABS websites. All of these websites, are run by well known and respected companies and offer a wide range of PC’s at affordable prices which you can purchase on-line.

Anti-Virus Software In today’s interconnected world it is essential to ensure that your new PC is protected from Virus and Hacker attacks. Make sure that your PC is fully protected by installing Firewall/Anti-Virus software from a well known company and ensure that, once installed you keep it up-to-date. We particularly recommend the range of software from McAFEE. You can buy this software either direct from McAFEE or via PC WORLD or CURRYS.
