How to advertise your website
Lets get straight to the point: You may have the best looking website in the world but if no-one knows it exists you won’t get any visitors. If you want customers to visit your website and see your products or services then you have to advertise it.

On this webpage I will briefly explain several ways you can advertise your website and also show several ways you can obtain income by placing other companies adverts on your website.

Let’s quickly summarise what we will be looking at. The methods of advertising your website we will look at are:

  • Google Adwords
  • Yahoo Sponsored Search

and the ways of earning income from other peoples adverts we will look at are:

  • Banner Adverts
  • ClickBank
  • Google Adsense

Let’s start by looking at Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising:

What Is Pay Per Click Advertising?
Pay Per Click advertising is when you create an advert and submit it to an agency and they charge you a fee each time someone clicks on your advert. Perhaps the most well known Pay Per Click service is GOOGLE ADWORDS.  You write a small text based advert for your website then choose a few keywords to bid on relevant to your website.  To advertise my own website for example I may choose the title “Work From Home Tips”, try the description “Free tips and advice for starting and running your own business from home”. And I may bid on the keywords “work from home”, “work at home” and “earn money from home”.  The amount you bid for each of your chosen keywords determines how often your advert will appear and it’s position amongst all the other adverts created by other companies also bidding on your keywords.  Lets now briefly look at some Pay Per Click services: Google Adwords and Yahoo Sponsored Search.

What is Google Adwords?
Google Adwords is a PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising service. If you search for something on Google then you may have noticed the small text adverts in a column on the right hand side of your screen. These adverts are Google Adwords adverts.  If you click on one of these adverts you will be taken to the advertisers website and Google will charge the advertiser a fee for referring you. You can learn more about Google Adwords (and open a Adwords account if you want to start using Adwords) by clicking on their banner advert above this paragraph.

What is Yahoo Sponsored Search
YAHOO SPONSORED SEARCH works on a similar principle to Google Adwords except that with YAHOO SPONSORED SEARCH your adverts will appear at the top of the search results when people search for your keywords using YAHOO.  You can learn more about Yahoo Sponsored Search (and obtain some free advertising credit if you open an account) by clicking on their banner advert above this paragraph.

Earning Income from Other Peoples Adverts
Now that we have looked at paying out money to advertise your website let’s look at the other side of the coin and ways you can actually earn income form persuading other companies to pay to advertise on YOUR website:

What are Banner Adverts and how can I make money from them?
The
AFFILATE FUTURE advert directly above this paragraph is an example of a Banner Advert.  A Banner Advert is simply a graphical advert which you place on your website.  You can choose Banner Adverts relevant to the content of your website by joining an agency such as AFFLIATE FUTURE, COMMISSION JUNCTION, TRADEDOUBLER or WEBGAINS.  Once you have opened your accounts with these agencies and chosen adverts relevant to your website you can apply to the agency for permission to display Banner Adverts from your selected companies.  If your application is accepted then you will be able to obtain the HTML codeblock for your selected adverts and place them on your website.  The agency will then credit your account with commission each time somebody purchases something after clicking on one of these banners on your website.

What Is ClickBank?
ClickBank is a service which pays you commission when someone purchases a product (usually information products such as eBooks) from their market place via links on your website. An example ClickBank link is: PaidSurveysOnline the Clickbank link for which is: http://iedouglas.surveys2.hop.clickbank.net.  You can use these text based ClickBank links to advertise individual products in your emails and newsletters (and earn commission every time someone buys a product through your link). However, if you have your own website there are several companies, such as CBGlobe which will provide tools to display ClickBank adverts in a nicer, searchable, format. I have placed a working example of the CBGlobe ClickBank Portal below so you can experiment with clicking on a few categories and products so you can get an idea yourself of the range of products available through ClickBank.

With CBGlobe you are not however limited to just the ClickBank Portal website plug-in shown above; you can also use CBGlobe to create an entire, ready-made website.  Take a look at my other website: www.cbglobe.work-from-home-tips.co.uk which is a working example of a complete CBGlobe website which you can, yourself, obtain free of charge from CBGlobe so you can , yourself, start earning commisson from selling products from the ClickBank marketplace.

What Is Google Adsense?
Adsense is the service provided by Google which provides you with a block of other people’s Adwords adverts to place on your own website  (similar in appearance to the small block of three adverts directly above this paragraph). If you open a Google Adsense account (for example via their banner advert above this paragraph) and insert the HTML codeblock they give you onto one of your website pages then Google will credit your account with a small payment every time a visitor to your website clicks on one of the adverts on your website. Note that your visitors do not have to actually purchase anything; Google will pay you simply for one of your visitors clicking. The amount you receive from Google will vary from advert to advert and will be a proportion of the amount the advertiser has bid on that particular Adwords advert.
